The Ranch Slough

12 x 16
Spring was just firing up in the San Luis Valley. The trees were finally leafing out as the fruit trees were blossoming in their roses, champaignes and pink. This is a view of some ranch outbuildings on the historic Gilmore Ranch near Alamosa. I set up on a slough that the Rio Grande cut and then abandoned. The early morning light bounced off the still waters of the old river course. This is one of my favortite times of year- when everthing greens-up and before the mosquitos hatch.
