Heritage
16 x 20 We passed by this castle complex shortly after we landed in Ireland. We soon discovered that in Ireland there are not very many "photo-op pull-outs." We passed by this scene on a narrow Irish road and couldn't find anyplace to pull over. Plus, I was struggling with driving left-handed while Cindy was trying to figure out how the road signs matched the map. (We have concluded that there is no Irish road map made that is completely foolproof.) I stored this location in my mind and as luck would have, on our return a week later I was watching out for a good spot to park, found one and after a short walk, was able to shoot some shots of this scene. This scene spoke to me about honoring the heritage that precedes us. Instead of dismantling structures, the Irish let the older forms stand and build next to them, maybe borrowing an odd stone or two. Their heritage is always within plain view.
